Eat Fresh, Eat Local with Oakland CSA
Support your local farmers and enjoy the freshest produce with our weekly produce boxes.
Hickory Nut Farm is owned and operated by an Amish farmer who started raising raising produce for the DC market when he was 10 on his dad’s farm in Pennsylvania. At the age of 21, he bought his own farm nearby.
He moved to the Northern Neck with his wife and six children in 2020 and built Hickory Nut Farm. He cleared the land, put up buildings and constructed four large high tunnels.
His efforts the first summer went into getting the soil ready and healed in order to produce a nutrient-dense, organic-quality product. He used a mix of cover crops, naturally-mined rock minerals, soft rock phosphates, sea minerals, home meals and compost -- all very important for healthy food.
His vision for Hickory Nut Farm is to grow a wide variety of nutrient-dense produce and supply them locally as Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).
Oakland CSA will provide produce for 48 weeks each year with a farm share payment on a quarterly basis.
